The Torlonia Collection is the most recent of the large Roman collections of ancient sculpture but, in terms of the richness and quality of the works preserved there, it established itself right from its inception as one of the most important private collections of classical art.

Over 90 works have been selected from the 620 catalogued marble works belonging to the Torlonia collection, the most prestigious private collection of ancient sculptures: it is of great importance for the history of art, excavations, restoration, taste, museography and archaeological research. Until June 2021 the exhibition The Torlonia marbles. Collecting masterpieces will be open to the public in Rome in the new exhibition space of at Villa Caffarelli in the Capitoline Museum.

In accordance with the precautionary measures taken by the authorities, the scheduled opening of the exhibition for 4 April has been postponed until further notice.
